What is Automotive Technology?
Automotive Technology provides students a comprehensive, advanced working knowledge of today s high-tech automotive systems, as well as vintage automobiles. Technicians go beyond simple car maintenance. Instruction in this program provides technical expertise on designing high-performance motors, operation of appropriate digital and manual machines and equipment, computer diagnostics, and understanding sophisticated integrated mechanical, hydraulic, electronic, and pneumatic vehicle systems. You will learn about engines, fuel delivery, on-board computers, manual and automatic transmissions, steering, suspension, and brakes, while also getting direct, hands-on practice and experience.

Persons trained in automotive technology are employed with dealerships, automotive manufacturing, government and independent fleets, independent and franchised repair facilities, and can also be entrepreneurs and own their own business.

Program Accreditation Information
The Automotive Technology program at SKYCTC is accredited by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF), and students have the opportunity to take tests leading to certification by ASE, the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence.

Length of Program
You can earn an Associate in Applied Science degree in two years if you maintain full-time status.
